Information
Reduced Fuel Consumption, Lower Emissions: Bosch Lambda Sensors
Lambda sensors are subject to extreme conditions. A properly functioning lambda is one of the components forming the basis for reliable engine operation and thus has a big influence for fuel consumption, low pollutant emissions, and accurate exhaust gas values.
Optimally Tailored to Every Model
Bosch lambda sensors are available for most vehicles. They are unbeatable thanks to their long service life, excellent operation, and optimum engine compatibility. They make a significant contribution to saving the driver money and protecting the environment.
Just as the Inventors Intended
Bosch invented the lambda sensor and is first choice for lambda sensors around the world. An annual production of around 45 million lambda sensors impressively demonstrates the high production expertise delivered by Bosch. It therefore comes as no surprise that most vehicle manufacturers put their trust in Bosch lambda sensors.
Advantages
- From the inventor of the Lambda sensor: The large range of Bosch lambda sensors contains the appropriate lambda sensor for around 85% of all vehicles. Even for diesel and CNG/LPG vehicles. Bosch quality as standard.
- An unsurpassed manufacturing record: An annual production of more than 45 million units.
- Constant development means that Bosch lambda sensors are always up to the most modern technological standards.
- Bosch lambda sensors are delivered to the workshop ready for immediate installation, saving you both time and money.
Maintenance Instructions
Minimum effort for maximum benefit: The lambda sensor should be checked over each time the workshop performs maintenance – regularly every 30 000 km. In the event of aging the lambda sensor should be replaced.
Function
A hot job for optimum CAT performance: Modern lambda sensors help ensure the catalytic converter can thoroughly clean exhaust gases. Together with the engine control unit, lambda sensors serve to ensure the optimum mixture composition, so the engine keeps running – in a powerful, clean, and efficient manner.
History
In 1976 the series production of Bosch lambda sensors began. This was triggered by the strict emission regulations in the USA. Together with the 3-way catalytic converter, the lambda sensor made it possible to regulate the air/fuel mixture. Since 1993 the planar sensor has been recognized as the state-of-the-art technology: It is ready for operation in no time and can thus regulate the exhaust gas as early as the cold-start phase.
